about me

Hi!  Welcome to my blog.  I am a lifelong athlete now entering the second half of my life journey.  I'm heading into my 60's.  Sport has really defined me to a large degree, and I am curious about the changes I'm noticing as I age and maintaining an active lifestyle for many, many more years.

I live in the beautiful Cowichan Valley in British Columbia.  It's a magical place with lots of opportunity for hiking and exploring the forest and the seashore.  It's also a pretty active community where I've found my community.

I've played so many sports in my life.  Soccer, softball, basketball, lacrosse, competitive water skiing, downhill skiing, swimming, BMX racing, netball, synchronized swimming, and rowing.  Along with an athletic lifestyle comes injury.  I've torn an ACL and a hamstring.  I broke my big toe and dislocated my foot.  And those are just the traumatic injuries.  I spend lots of time nursing repetitive use problems - rotator cuffs and achilles tendons, just to mention a few.

So I'm not an "expert", but I do have a raft of experience!  And I read.  I research.  I listen to my care practitioners and I learn a lot about what's right, what's wrong, and how to move forward.  That's my other love - learning.

And I love to write.

I hope you enjoy reading and learning along with me.  My hope is that your journey can be active and lead to a long and mobile life.
